Plzen was not in the best form immediately after the national break, but now they have a two-match winning streak (4:1 against Kladno and 2:1 against Zlin). These were not the strongest opponents on paper, but the points count the same. Michal Bulíř scored a total of three points (2+1) in both games and his overall score of 14+13 ranks him 7th in scoring. In the last game, Ludwig Blomstrand of Sweden scored his fifteenth goal of the season and is only one goal behind the top scorer from Pardubice, Robert Říčka.
Karlovy Vary have won five of their last eight games, which is not bad at all, and they have at least moved up to 11th place in the table. Jiri Cernoch is back after a long time, he hasn't scored a single point in the last three games, but the team is doing well. Last time Vary also scored, but only one point, they lost to Sparta 4:5 after overtime. In the third period, Vary was still down 2:4, but thanks to goals by Plutnar and Vondráček, they tied it up, but Spartan captain Michal Řepík decided the game in overtime.
The West Czech derby usually has a lot of energy, but the last two times Vary won, it was on their ice. Plzeň hasn't lost to Vary at home for eight games in a row, this time it could be a win again, the home team usually wins in this duel and that is Plzeň.
My prediction: Plzen (in regular time) @ 1.70 (bet365)
