HOCKEY: Czech Republic
Karlovy Vary is currently in 11th place, but has won three of its last four games. All wins came against relatively tough opponents (Pardubice 4:1, České Budějovice 5:2 and Mladá Boleslav 3:0), these teams are in the first half of the table. Captain Vondráček is in great form, scoring a hat trick against České Budějovice, all three goals were in shorthanded. In the game against Boleslav he has an assist on Mikúš's goal, who came back after less than a year and is doing well, scoring seven points (3+4) in five games in Vary.
Everybody has probably heard about Spartans' streak of eight losses in a row, but the Spartans have been doing well in the last few games (winning 8:3 against Hradec and 4:1 against Liberec). The improved performance is due to the fact that several key players have returned to the line-up, such as Vladimír Sobotka, David Vitouch, Jan Buchtele, Alexander Salák. Daniel Pribyl even started the last game against Liberec, it was a very emotional game for him, he hadn't played for five years due to injury.
The Prague team would certainly like to build on their performance from the last few games, they have improved in the table and are already in 6th place, but many teams have a similar number of points. The Red Machine is starting to get going again, but Karlovy Vary are strong at home. Last year, they even managed to turn the score 0:4 in the third period against Sparta and won 5:4 after overtime. Karlovy Vary could get at least one point at home.
My prediction: Double Chance: Karlovy Vary or Draw @ 1.80 (bet365)
