Brno has been struggling in recent games, winning only once out of five games against Litvínov 4:3 away. The offensive contributions have been below average so far, but Kometa's offense doesn't look bad on paper, American sniper Peter Mueller has five goals, is more of a scorer than a passer, but has only assisted on a goal once in ten games. Center Petr Holík is the most productive player of Brno with nine assists, but he is still waiting for his first goal. Other Brno mainstays such as Martin Zat'ovic or Tomas Vincour are not scoring many points yet. A positive news for the home team is the return of Marek Ďaloga after his injury in the game against Sparta, the dynamic defender has experience from the Slovak national team and is useful in many situations.
After six losses, Liberec won twice in a row, beating Ceské Budejovice 3:2 at home and getting a point against Sparta for a 2:3 defeat after penalty shootout. Similarly to Brno, Liberec are struggling on offense too. The only productive player is Tomas Filippi, who also scored in the last game against Sparta, and Jaroslav Vlach scored another hit. More is expected from Michal Birner (1+4) and David Gríger (1+0), Tomas Záborský scored only two goals in ten games. Liberec's defence also weakened compared to last year, Ronald Knot left for Nizhnekamsk.
