NHL
After 28 games played, Columbus is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points. The home team have a score of 91:95 in those games. Columbus holds the 6th place in their Metropolitan Division, which currently means not participating in the playoffs. They are 10 points behind fourth-place Pittsburgh, but has two games to play. The last five games have seen Columbus in terrible form, as evidenced by 0-1-1-3, three points and a 15:20 score. Their only win came against Seattle, 5:4 after overtime before the NHL break.
The visiting Nashville Predators are in 5th place in the Western Conference with 39 points after 31 games played. In those games, the visitors have a score of 92:84, which means they have one of the best defenses in the league, but as far as offense is concerned, they are among the average in the Western Conference. They hold the third playoff spot in the Central Division. Nashville is six points ahead of fifth place Winnipeg, who is the first non-advancing team, but Winnipeg has one game less. The last five games have been 3-1-0-1, eight points and a 15:11 score for the visitors. Last time Nashville lost 3:5 to Washington.
Missing:
Seven absences have been reported so far on the Columbus side - Bayreuther, Bjorkstrand, Boqvist, Korpisalo, Kukan, Laine and Robinson will miss the game.
Visiting Nashville will have to do without the trio of Josi, Novak, Sissons.
I've got to play visiting Nashville in this game. Columbus is struggling at the moment, conceding quite a lot of goals and also has a huge injury list, which will definitely affect their performance. On the other hand, the visitors were in good form before the break, although they lost to Washington yesterday, but I consider them a better team than Columbus. Nashville will definitely miss Josi, who has great numbers, but I believe that the rest of the team will be fine. Moreover, Nashville has been able to take on Columbus for a long time, last time they won 6-0. I don't expect such a clear-cut affair tonight, but I think Nashville will win in regulation time.
My bet:
3-Way: Nashville Predators @ 2.45 (bet365)
