Two football giants will clash at the Camp Nou and Barcelona have a lot to return to Bayern. Barcelona were beaten 8-2 by Bayern Munich in Lisbon in last year's Champions League quarter-final, which was only played for one game. Then the Catalans still had Lionel Messi in the squad, who left the club of his heart this summer.
Barcelona also lost other players due to financial troubles and it probably wouldn't be a big surprise if they don't advance from the group. Today they will be weakened by a number of injured players (Ansu Fati, Braithwaite, Dembéle, Agüero). To make matters worse, they also sold Griezmann who went back to Atletico, while Bayern, with a few exceptions, are complete and, most importantly, in great form.
In the weekend's Bundesliga match, Bayern beat a strong Leipzig 4:1 and has already scored 27 goals in five league matches of the new season! Bayern are good at Champions League openers in group, having won seventeen in a row with an impressive 42:2 score.
Thomas Muller, who is only two goals away from the 50-goal mark in the Champions League and has scored six goals in five games for Barcelona, is surely looking forward to the Cam Nou today.
Barcelona hasn't lost to anyone more often than Bayern (7) in the European Cups and it's hard to improve on that record today. Postponing this weekend's Spanish league game probably won't help.
Prediction:
Bayern Munich @ 2.0 (bet365)
