CHALLENGER WOMEN - SINGLES: Limoges (France), hard (indoor) - 1/16-finals
This match will offer us a duel between German tennis player Tatiana Maria (282) and Iryna Shymanovich (268) from Belarus.
Maria is a 34-year-old player and her ranking high was 46th (November 2017). She returned to the courts this year after giving birth to her second child. She started playing at the end of July and hasn't even come close to her earlier form, having never got past the 2nd round in any tournament. Her last appearance on the courts was about 2 weeks ago at a hard court exhibition in the USA.
Shymanovich is a 24-year-old tennis player and is 8 positions away from her best ranking. This year she didn't hit the courts until the end of May. She managed to win the title on hard in Almaty and went on to play semifinal on clay in Radom. Indoors, she made her debut this year at Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and beat Rouvroy and Sato there and also played a set against Burel. Last time she tried to make it to the main event in Angers but fell short to Vikhlyantseva in the qualifying final.
In this match, I consider the Belarusian tennis player to be the clear favourite, as she is not doing a bad performance at all. On the other hand, Maria is searching this year and her performances on the courts are far from ideal.
Iryna Shymanovich to win @ 1.57 (bet365)
