CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Losinj (Croatia) - Qualification, clay - Final
This match will offer us a duel between Spanish tennis player Nicolas Alvarez Varona (441) and Fabien Reboul (850) from France.
Alvarez Varona is a 20-year-old player and he was also 7th in the juniors. He did well on clay this year (20/9) and also won his 2nd ITF title overall, at the M25 tournament at home in Santander, where he beat Marti Pujolras in the final, and he played the final in Alkmaar, where he was defeated by Sels. Recently, he had a great success at the Challenger in Barcelona, where he made it through the qualification and in the main event he beat both Czech Lehecka and Slovak Horansky without losing a set, and was not able to beat Gaston (112.) in the quartefinal. Here he easily beat Croatian doubles player Ivan Sabanov in the first round of qualification.
Reboul is a 26-year-old player and was also ranked 327th in singles (December 2018). He is currently playing doubles where he has won 4 Challenger and 1 Futures title this year. In singles, he tried his luck this year at the Manacor tournament, where he made it to the main event, and at the Biella Challenger, where he played a set against Arnaboldi but didn't go any further. Here he beat the home player Kalender in the 1st round.
The Spanish tennis player should clearly dominate this match from the start. He has been in great form and has picked up some great results on clay and I don't expect any big drama from this match. Alvarez Varona will advance smoothly and secure his participation in the main event.
Nicolas Alvarez Varona won 2:0 @ 1.75
