CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Antalya 4 (Turkey) - Qualification, clay - Final
This match will offer us a duel between Swiss tennis player Jakub Paul (468) and Marcel Ilhan (769) from Turkey.
Paul is a 22 year old tennis player and is 5 positions away from his ranking maximum. He has a 34/19 score this year and on clay he won the title on home soil in Muttenz in August and played the semifinal in Klosters. In October he moved indoors and won his 2nd title of the year in Hamburg, beating the likes of Ejupovic, Riedi, Wessels and Squire in the final. At the end of October he played a qualifying match in Tenerife, Spain, where he fell short to the home player Damas and after a month's break he only made his appearance here last week, after a qualifying win over Sultanovo, falling to Portugal's Cacao. Here he scored a mandatory win over Japanese veteran Matsui in the 1st round here.
Ilhan is a 34-year-old player and the highest ranking was 77th (March 2015). He has been touring mainly clay futures tournaments this year and has a score of 20/28 and his best was 2 quarterfinals appearances. Last week he surprisingly defeated Italian Fonio in the 1st round of qualification here and in the final he lost to Wessels in 3 sets. Here he defeated Toledo Bague from Spain in 2 sets in the 1st match.
In this match I will try to pick the home tennis player. Although he hasn't achieved any significant tournament success this year, he has managed to surprise several favourites in the last few weeks. He beat Marti Pujolras or the Ukrainian Prihodek at the local futures. His recent losses were to players like Apostol, Harris B. or Michalski, who are currently very good players.
Marsel Ilhan to win @ 2.62 (bet365)
