CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Cassis (France), hard - 1/8-finals
Hiroki Moriya is form Japan and he is a typical hardcourt player, where he has over 500 matches with a score of 300/244. Moriya has been in challengers his whole career, he was already 143rd in the rankings, now he is 286th.
His season so far has been slightly negative with a 14/17 score. The beginning of the season didn't work out so well for him, his improvement came in Salinas, where he reached the quarterfinals. Then he appeared in futures tournaments, where he reached one semifinal.
Here in Cassis he is playing one of the better tournaments this season and he looks great here so far, he hasn't lost a set in three matches. He started already in the qualification, where he beat the improving Khan (457.), home Lokoli (484.) and in the first round this year's excellent Jarry (226.).
Chidekh is a 20 year old Frenchman who is ranked 702nd in the world and this is his first appearance at a Challenger. Before that he was only in ITF tournaments where he started to be quite successful, but this is next step to the next level.
Chidekh has a good look 22/3 score on the hardcourt this year, but they are all low-level futures matches (1x win, 1x final, 1x semifinal).
Here in Cassis, he recorded his first win in a Challenger main event when he beat Cazaux (359.).
As an outsider, I can't help but try the much more experienced Moriya, who, although he is not quite in his top form but plays at a higher level in challengers and has looked very good in all his matches so far on this tournament.
Hiroki Moriya to win @ 2.20 (bet365)
