CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Bucharest (Romania), clay - Quarter-finals
In Bucharest, we will see Slovak Horansky (ATP: 204.) and Australian Kokkinakis (ATP: 183.) in the quarter-finals. I choose to bet on the outsider, which in this case is Filip Horansky. However, I wouldn't underrate him here after Thanasi's performance yesterday.
Thanasi was considered one of the great talents of world tennis. To his big unluck he had constant health problems (back, knee, shoulder and especially mononucleosis). Kokkinakis is slowly making a comeback. After US Open, Thanasi reached the semifinals in St. Tropez, where he lost to O'Connell (0:2). He lost to Zuk (0:2) in Cassis and that was played on his preferred hard court. In the first round here, his opponent Ajdukovic retired. Yesterday, Kokkinakis beat 2:1 Hemery (331.) in the second round. After losing the first set, he had to turn it around, which he did.
Horansky can surprise in outsider position and get an interesting win. Zuk (168.), Nakashima (85.) or Poullie (142.) could tell their story this year. Horansky has been giving convincing performances here so far, the same cannot be said for Kokkinakis, who struggled in three sets with Hemery yesterday and it has to be said that he was definitely not the better player.
The surface plays into the hands of Filip Horansky, who likes clay a lot more than Kokkinakis.
Filip Horansky to win @ 2.62 (bet365)
