CHALLENGER WOMEN - SINGLES: Midland (USA), hard (indoor) - 1/16-finals
This match will offer us an American duel between Elvina Kalieva (421) and Whitney Osuigwe (245).
Kalieva is an 18-year-old tennis player who is currently ranked 10th in juniors (max 9) and is at her best in women's. Among adults she made her first significant presence known in May when she made her way to the quarterfinal after wins over A. Sanchez and Krueger on the clay in Pelham. On hard she beat Hsu and Hibi and took a set from Sharma. The real ride came at the W60 in Rancho Santa Fe, where she made it through the qualifying rounds and took on Hewitt, Dias, Hercog and Ferro in the main event before falling in the final to the upstart Swede Peterson. She last faltered after a supertiebreak in the qualifying in Tyler against Australia's Osborne.
Osuigwe is a 19-year-old player and has been ranked 105th in women's (August 2019). She was already dominating the junior rankings at the age of 15, but in the last few seasons she has started to stagnate and has slowly fallen. This year, she has a 10/24 score and has never even made it past the 2nd round in any tournament. Last time in Tyler after a win over Mateas, she fell to Zacarias.
In this match I will try to play Kalieva, who has recently raised her confidence significantly and proved that she can play and even win against the world's top players. Osuigwe, on the other hand, is in a game crisis and still can't seem to get out of it.
Elvina Kalieva to win @ 1.72 (bet365)
