CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Lisbon (Portugal), clay - 1/8-finals
This match will offer us a duel between German tennis player Cedrik-Marcel Steb (160) and Nuno Borges (276) from Portugal.
Stebe is a 30-year-old player and the highest he has looked (February 2012) was 71st. This year he hasn't done too well and has a negative 12/17 score.
He only managed to get past the 2nd round of the tournament twice, at the Challenger in Lyon (France), where he lost match against Bagnis, and last week in Braga (Portugal), he beat in 3 sets Pellegrino in the 1st round, who was on a 12-match losing streak. In the next round, Vrbensky surrendered to him after the 1st set and in the quarter-finals, he lost to Milojevic (0:2). Here he easily beat J. Berrettini (2:0).
Borges is a 24 year old tennis player and is 8 positions below his maximum. He has played all except one match on clay this year and has a good 33/14 score. He has won 1 ITF title, but he has also been able to prove himself in challengers. In Oeiras he lost in the final 6:7 / 6:7 to Cachino. Here he was able to turn around a match with Belgian Geerts.
Stebe has been very unimpressive this year and I wouldn't overrate his win here over the younger of the Berrettini brothers. Borges has been able to whip up some great performances at home this year, and I believe he will take this match and advance to the next round.
Nuno Borges to win @ 1.61 (bet365)
