CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Losinj (Croatia), clay - Quarter-finals
Giannessi, a 31-year-old Italian, is already experienced tennis players, looking into the top 100 at No. 84, but for most of his career he played mainly on a challenger tournaments, where he is one of the orthodox clay court players. This year he has been putting in some pretty decent and steady performances, playing semi-finals in Antalya, Marbella and Rome, but most importantly he also succeeded in the three-round qualifier at the French Open. He didn't have an easy draw here in Losinj, but he beat Robin Haase 7-6(4), 7-5 and Franco Agamenone 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-1.
The 24-year-old Italian Brancaccio is from the younger generation, he is somewhere between the third and the fourth hundred and thus he is in between the ITF and the challengers. This year he has one ITF clay title, and his best in the challengers this year is the quarter-final in Forli and recently in Napoli. Here he beat Ergi Kirkin 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in three sets, and then Carlos Gimeno Valero 6-4, 6-1.
A match between two Italians, not exactly the best bet on the ticket, I'll still bet on Giannessi here. His score this year isn't bad at all, and although he hasn't won a title, he has played a couple of semifinals at the Challenger. Brancaccio is a player who isn't firmly established in challengers yet, he's also played a lot of ITFs, I see him a bit lower in quality. Alessandro has had some pretty tough matches here and while he may not have it easy, he could beat Raul here too.
The players met once, in 2019 on clay in Marbella, Giannessi won 2:1 in sets.
Alessandro Giannessi to win @ 1.75 (bet365)
