Two teams in completely different positions and a clear favourite on the home side.
Calgary Flames are leading the table, they overcame their slight offensive crisis a couple of games back and now they are winning, it's unbelievable. This team has the absolute best defensive phase of the game, the way they can stop the opponent's offense is a current show. They haven't conceded 3 times in the last 5 games. Overall, they have 6 games with a clean sheet and last time Boston Bruins broke them all they could because I didn't see one better opportunity from Boston in the game. In 19 games, 27 points and a goal score of 63:36 is a great show of how great their defense and offense can be. This team has grown a lot in the last few years, both defensively and offensively. Of course, they rely mainly on the great first line of Lindholm, Tkachuk, Gaudreau, but this year they are also being pulled by Mangiapane, who is currently one of the top scorers in NHL.
Their opponent tonight, Chicago, is currently playing on the opposite side of the coin in the league. After 18 games, they are in 13th place in the Western Conference with a score of 40:58. The visitors' defense is one of the weakest in the league, but it's not as intimidating as it was, for example, after round 10, when they were one of the worst teams in the league. Chicago is in great form, winning four of their last five games, but it should also be said that they have won against teams like Vancouver, Arizona, Seattle, and the only better opponent they won against was Pittsburgh in overtime. On top of that, they had one loss to Edmonton, 2-5, which is the same quality as their opponent today, Calgary.
Calgary is in great form as they also won 4 of 5 games against Boston, NYI, Buffalo and Ottawa and only lost in Philadelphia. They have, in my opinion, better quality on offense, and definitely much better quality on defense. Great power play, great shorthanded play, which will be the difference in tonight's game and Calgary will come out of this game victorious.
My bet:
3-Way: Calgary Flames @ 1.74 (bet365)
