Premier League
Brighton are in their fifth season in the top league, but they have never climbed above 15th place, which is why their start to this season is a big surprise. In the 8 rounds so far, they have collected a total of 15 points for a 4-3-1 score and are in a great fourth place in the table. The biggest contributor to this is striker Maupay, who has already scored four goals.
Manchester City probably needs no introduction. €1 billion squad contains a number of great names (Brighton €250 million). They can be quite happy with the way the season has gone so far. They lost in Paris in the Champions League, but they are still in second place and still have a home rematch with PSG to play. In league they are in third place with a 5-2-1 score, having lost at Tottenham and drawn at Liverpool and with Southampton. Individually, Gabriel Jesus has been the most consistent performer with two goals and four assists.
This will be the eleventh match between these two teams. Score of 9 wins and only one loss from City's point of view clearly shows who is better in the long run. That loss came in their last match. For me, it was a coincidence of favourable factors for the home team. City already have a title and the Champions League final awaited them ("At that time we were already champions, Champions League final was still ahead of us. This game has a different context now," Guardiola added) and on top of that, they got a red card in the first half.
Brighton don't have what it takes to stay at the top of the table in the long run, and it's their game against one of the title contenders that could start the table slump.
My bet:
Asian Handicap: Manchester City -1.0 @ 1.62 (bet365)
