NHL
Boston and Detroit are playing in the NHL tonight. I'm going with the perhaps surprising bet that Detroit won't lose at hcp +2.0. In practice, this means that if Detroit loses by a goal, we have a green bet; if they lose by two goals, our stake is returned. A more significant loss for Red Wings also means our defeat.
Defacto, there's one major reason why I'm taking this bet. Boston will miss Brad Marchand, who is suspended. It's a very noticeable loss for Bruins, as their Marchand-Pastrnak-Bergeron strike line has fallen apart. They will be missing their brain and most productive player in Boston. Hand on heart, there are rather few teams in NHL that are so dependent on the productivity of the first line. With Krejci gone and Marchand absent, it could be even more evident. I'm not saying Boston can't win, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a surprise. Ignoring the first line and perhaps Taylor Hall, Boston doesn't have a dream team right now.
Detroit is far from the outsiders it used to be. It's a fact that they're picking up most of their points at home and not doing so well away, but what isn't can be. The visitors finally got Bertuzzi healthy before the season. The Swedish youngster Raymond is also looking good. Larkin is an offensive stalwart again. Detroit can score goals, too. Every goal in Bruins' net brings us closer to a win.
My bet:
Asian Handicap: Detroit Red Wings +2.0 @ 1.46
