In the 25th round of the second highest English competition, Blackpool, who are currently in thirteenth place in the table, will play against fifth-placed Middlesbrough.
Blackpool have a record of one win and four losses in their last five league games. In their last league game they lost 2-3 to sixth placed Huddersfield. In the game before that they won 3-1 against 22nd Peterborough, who are currently in the relegation zone. In the games before that they took a run of three losses against last placed Derby, fourteenth placed Luton and seventeenth placed Birmingham. The home team's form is terrible at the moment, where they are losing even against much weaker opponents. Blackpool also have a large number of players who will not take part in today's game. Defender Gabriel Jordan (thirteen games played) received a red card in the last game, so he will have to miss today's game. Midfielder Carey Sonny (10 games, one goal scored) is injured. Chris Maxwell (first choice goalkeeper - 13 games), Luke Garbutt (defender - 12 games), Kevin Stewart, Matty Virtue, Grant Ward, Reece James (defender - 10 games), Callum Connolly and Ryan Wintle were also absent for the last game. So Blackpool have a lot of injured players and with more of them not certain to start the game.
Middlesbrough have a record of four wins and one draw in their last five league games. In their last league game they comfortably defeated ninth-placed Nottingham 2-0. The game before that they even beat the leader of the second highest competition 1-0 in a game in which Middlesbrough were surprisingly much better. The team's current form is therefore excellent. Middlesbrough will miss only defender Bola Marc (13 games played), who is injured.
Blackpool are in very poor form at the moment and have a lot of injured players. On the other hand, Middlesbrough have four wins from their last five games even against very strong opponents and they have only one absentee. Middlesbrough will want to return the defeat from the last mutual match to their opponents today and I like to try 2,00 odds on their win.
My bet:
Middlesbrough @ 2,00 (bet365)
