CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Napoli 2 (Italy), clay - 1/16-finals
The 24-year-old Spaniard Zapata Miralles has made good progress recently, currently ranked 124th in the world. This year he won two challenger titles, in Heilbronn and Poznan, but his last two matches did not go well at all. In the first round in the hall in Metis, where he was a lucky loser, he lost 0:2 to Rune after 0:6 / 0:6. 2 weeks later, he retired his match in Barcelona against Barranco Cosano at the beginning of the second set.
The 24-year-old Italian Pellegrino is currently at his career maximum, ranked 228th, and has settled in at challenger level. His performance is like a roller coaster, he won the title at the Challenger in Rome in April, but during the summer he has been picking up one loss after another. But he's catching on again in the autumn, playing in the final of the last two tournaments on both occasions. He fell short of the title, beaten by Popko and T. Griekspoor.
Players met once, in 2018 on clay in Geneva, Zapata Miralles won 2:1 in sets.
I'll try to bet on the outsider here, but there's no other way. Zapata Miralles' last two fights have been literally disasters. First, 0:6 / 0:6, then the unfinished match 5 days ago. It is a big question mark as to what form and condition Bernabe will arrive here in. Either way, he's going to face a pretty tough opponent, Pellegrino has found his lost form and has been playing great over the last two weeks.
My bet:
Andrea Pellegrino @ 2.50 (bet365)
