The slight downside to this game is the fact that there will be no fans at the stadium. However, that doesn't change the strength of Bayern, who will go into this match full strength, even though they are already assured of promotion. The home side will not want to falter on the European stage and I think they have one more hidden motivation. Although it doesn't really have anything to do with the current Barcelona anymore. We won't talk about the Ballon d'Or, but it's clear that Bayern will want to show who has the best player in the world. Although this is just my theory, I think I can empathize with the situation.
The home team hasn't lost a point so far this season, as one of the three teams in the competition. They have scored 19 goals in five games. Unsurprisingly, Robert Lewandowski has shone the brightest - he has started 21 games so far this season and has opened the net 27 times. A valuable win against Dortmund (3:2) came at the weekend. Bayern lead the Bundesliga by 4 points. In this duel, the five of Stanisic, Sarr, Kimmich, Sabitzer and Choupo-Moting will be missing.
Barcelona have nothing to offer at the moment in the top of the Champions League. The squad is going through a major reorganisation and it will take time to become competitive at the highest level. Barcelona will be under immense pressure as they will have to finish this game on points. Assuming Benfica can manage their match Barcelona will have to win. Open play and tactical defending, whatever Bayern have to face, they have the ability to do it.
After improving their form, the weekend's defeat at Camp Nou to Betis (0:1) left them in 7th place in the league. So the warm-up for an important game didn't go well at all. Xavi is giving space to a young squad and it will come in handy now as he can't use Alves, Pedri, Sergi Roberto, Fati, Agüero and Braithwaite.
I believe that the Bavarian team will confirm its great strength and score its sixth win in the group.
Prediction:
Asian Handicap: Bayern Munich -1.5 @ 2.35 (bet365)
