Putting aside the goalless home draw with Benfica Lisbon, which could deprive Barcelona of qualification to the spring phase of the Champions League, the score of new coach Xavi is positive so far. In the two league games in which he has led the club of his heart, he has earned six points (Espanyol 1-0, Villarreal 3-1). On Saturday, Barça will want to add a third league win in a row, all the more so as Betis is one of the six teams ahead of it in the table. Barcelona are four points behind Betis before this match (and have one game to play). However, given Betis' current form, it will not be an easy challenge at Camp Nou.
The visitors have won their last four competitive matches (Elche 3-0, Ferencváros 2-0 in the Europa League, Levante 3-1 and Alicante 4-0 in the National Cup).
Barcelona, for all their current problems, will be a much tougher test for Betis than the aforementioned quartet of opponents. Betis, after all, have lost five previous meetings in a row, conceding at least three goals each time. I expect the Catalan club to win this time too.
