ATP - SINGLES: Indian Wells (USA) - Qualification, hard - Semi-finals
This qualifying match will offer us a duel between Turkish tennis player Altug Celikbilek (168) and Joao Sousa (182) from Portugal.
Celikbilek is a 25-year-old tennis player and is currently at his career maximum. He is mainly a hard player, which he proves this year (21/8) and takes pride in winning 2 challenger titles (Pozoblanco, Segovia). His last appearance was in Sofia, where he lost to Gerasimov in the qualification. Here he lost the opening set to Fabbiano (ATP: 225), but then he worked hard and easily brought the match to a victorious end.
Sousa is a 32-year-old player and was also ranked 28th in the world (May 2016). However, his performance has been going downhill a lot in the last seasons. This year he is negative 14/25 (5/6 hard) and on hard he only made it to the quartefinals in Mallorca, beat Moriya and Ortega-Olmeda, after that he fell to Geerts. He last played in Orleans, where he fell in the 1st round to Bemelmans. Here, he had an easy job in the 1st qualifying round against the wild card, 17-year-old American Lilov (ATP: 2002).
Celikbilek has been doing well on hard this year and I expect that he won't want to miss out on a possible participation in the main event of this prestigious event and will beat the Portuguese veteran, who is not doing well at all this year, and advance to the final qualifying round.
My bet:
Altug Celikbilek @ 1.66 (bet365)
