SPAIN: LaLiga
Atlético Madrid will try to achieve three victories in a row in La Liga, also because next time they will meet Real Madrid in the Madrid derby. The match will certainly not be an easy one, because Atletico will still fight for promotion in the Champions League next week in Porto, where 3 other teams (Porto, AC Milan, Atletico) are still fighting for promotion, Liverpool is already a certain qualifier. The Spanish champions are currently at the bottom of Group B, having taken just four points from their five games so far; they are just a point behind second-placed Porto.
Atletico can't afford to take their eyes off the league, however, as they face Real Madrid and Sevilla on December 12 and December 18 before the winter break. Atlético have won eight, drawn five and lost one of their 14 games in La Liga this season and have accumulated 29 points, which puts them in second place in the table, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid.
Mallorca have won three, drawn seven and lost five of their 15 league games this season and have accumulated 16 points, leaving them 14th in the table before returning to action. Mallorca secured their place in the second round of the Copa del Rey with a 2-0 win over Gimnastica Segoviana on Wednesday night. Luis Garcia's team have not won in their last seven league games, although five of those matches have ended in a draw.
As for Mallorca, Antonio Raillo , Salva Sevilla and Matthew Hoppe are unavailable due to injury but Takefusa Kubo is expected to be available to start for the visitors.
Mallorca have proved difficult to beat in recent weeks, drawing a lot of games, but it's always tough to come up against Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano and I expect Simeone's team to pick up another important three points in an attempt to cut the gap to Real Madrid.
My bet:
Asian Handicap: Atletico Madrid -1.5 @ 2.07 (bet365)
