After two draws in the opening two rounds (Elche 0-0, Barcelona 1-1) and two wins (Celta 1-0, Mallorca 2-0), Bilbao managed to stay unbeaten in the fifth round of the season, in which they visited the defending champions (Atlético 0-0). In five rounds, Athletic Bilbao have a good 2-3-0 score and have conceded only one goal so far, by Barcelona's Depay. Bilbao will now look to confirm their successful start to the new season against one of this season's newcomers, Rayo Vallecano.

Even the footballers of Rayo Vallecano have to be happy with the opening part of the season. Although they only slipped into the elite thanks to the second league play-offs (Rayo finished sixth in the regular season), after five rounds in LaLiga they already have seven points and big home wins against Granada (4-0) and Getafe (3-0).
