WTA - SINGLES: Indian Wells (USA), hard - Quarter-finals
Anett Kontaveit has been making an unstoppable impression recently. At the age of 25, she is having the season of her life, currently on a streak of nine wins in a row, during which she won a tournament in Ostrava without losing a set, where she beat excellent players like Bados, Bencic, Kvitova and Sakkari. Then she won the 1st round in Chicago but did not enter to the 2nd round.
Here, in Indian Wells, Kontaveit is back in great form, she hasn't lost a set in three matches, easily beating Trevisan, defending champion Andreescu and most recently Haddad Maia.
Kontaveit last lost a close three-set battle with Swiatek in the 3rd round of the US Open. Before that, she claimed her first title of the season in Cleveland, which she followed up with the mentioned Ostrava.
Tunisian Jabeur is also having a great year. She also reached the 3rd round of the US Open, where she fell a bit surprisingly to Mertens. Jabeur played very well in Chicago, where she beat Hsieh, Pegula, Svitolina and Rybakina to reach the final, but lost in three sets to Muguruza.
Here, in Indian Wells, Jabuer had a rest in the 1st round, then in the 2nd round she had problems with Sevastova, whom she beat in three sets. She followed that up with an impressive scalp of Collins and then a win over Kalinskaya in the 1/8-finals.
Both tennis players are in great form and their success rate on hard surfaces is similar, Kontaveit is 22/10 and 24/11. But Kotnaveit seems to me more consistent in her performances, she hasn't lost a set in nine matches. Jabeur have slight failures, like with Muguruza in the final or here with Sevastova. The Tunisian, who also won this year's last duel in three sets, is 2-1 up on the H2H. But it was 7-5 in the third set and I think Kontaveit is in better form now and Jabeur will repay this defeat.
My bet:
Anett Kontaveit @ 1.72 (bet365)
