CHALLENGER MEN - SINGLES: Santiago 2 (Chile), clay - 1/8-finals
I really can't do otherwise and I'm going to play a win here for a 23 year old Argentinian tennis player Francisco Cerundolo (ATP: 109.) and this year he has a score of 33/18 and he has played most of his matches on clay with 28/15 of them on clay and you can write that he is a typical clay player. He has a career total of 181/70 on clay.
Cerundolo is undoubtedly a talented player and the proof of that is that he has made it through qualifying to two Buenos Aires finals this year and also to the finals of two Challengers, winning one of them. He has also beat Andujar, Ramos Vinolas, Coria, Seyboth Wilde, Mager, Carballes Baena, Etcheverry this year and those are great wins.
He even won 3 Challengers last season. Here in the tournament he beat C. Rodriguez in the first round.
His opponent will be a 24 year old French tennis player Alexis Gauthier (ATP: 349.) and this year he has a score of 44/22 and has won 2 futures tournaments there, reached the semifinals of one challenger. His career score on clay is 75/48.
His first Challenger win this year came in September, unlike his opponent. He lost 0-6 / 0-6 on 26.9. against a weaker Barrientos, clearly a worse player than Cerundolo. He was recently beaten by the weaker Onclin. Here at the tournament he beat Pucinelli in the first round.
